Young people can help make a difference to travel safety around schools in a new initiative.
Elected ambassadors from across six schools will participate in the Youth Travel Ambassadors Scheme, which is being delivered by TfL and Harrow Council this month.
The scheme gives young people the chance to make a difference to transport issues affecting their school’s community, by working on and running their own educational campaign.
Ambassadors will attend a Dragon’s Den style event on January 13 to pitch their ideas to a panel of transport experts, alongside schools and colleges from Harrow.
Panellists will offer advice, support and funding of up to £300 to help the teams to make their ideas a reality.
Cllr Varsha Parmar, responsible for crime and community safety said: “It is fantastic to see young travel ambassadors passionate about highlighting and improving travel and safety issues affecting them and their peers.
“This scheme will give them a chance to make a real difference. It also brings lots of benefits for their personal, academic and professional development.
“I look forward to hearing each campaign plan which will be presented on Tuesday. We will support teams with advice, support and funding so that their proposals make a real difference to their school community.”
