Harrow has the second highest rate of confidence in the police in London.

People can now track their borough’s confidence in the police through two new online tools, the confidence dashboard and neighbourhood confidence comparator.

The tools allow the public to see how well their officers are performing compared to other similar areas, and also which Londoners have the least confidence in the police.

In Harrow overall, confidence in the police is at 77 per cent, rating joint second across London after Richmond – which saw confidence levels reach 86 per cent.

Figures in the Neighbourhood Confidence Comparator shows levels differ across the borough, with 78 per cent in central Harrow, 75 per cent in the east of the borough and 70 per cent in the west.

Deputy Mayor for policing and crime Stephen Greenhalgh said: “The Mayor and I have been clear - cutting crime is not enough, we need to see a boost in Londoners' confidence. We know that the police themselves can work to improve confidence by engaging with the public, communicating well and addressing local concerns.

“For the first time we are giving Londoners a clear picture of confidence in their neighbourhood, and we are challenging local police forces to do better.

“Right now in Harrow, confidence in the police has exceeded our target of 75 per cent. We hope these tools will be used by local police leaders in similar neighbourhoods with lower levels of confidence, who will look to Harrow for lessons on how to improve confidence in their area.”
