A rotary club was visited by a doctor who has spent nearly 30 years helping children affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

Dr Vasyl Pasichnyk is director of the Revival Centre in Chernigiv, which helps and supports children born after the Chernobyl power station explosion in 1986.

The Rotary Club of Northwick Park has spent the past four years raising money for the centre in Ukraine, which has been recently treating thousands of refugees from Crimea.

At the meeting at the weekend members of the Rotary Club presented a cheque of more than £650, collected in the past few weeks, to Dr Pasichnyk.

In May this year members of the club loaded a van full of donations including clothes, disposable nappies, toiletries and bandages, and delivered them to Chernigiv.
