Harrow Borough Council says it will review whether to put in a zebra crossing near a school after a girl was knocked down by a car.
Parents and governors of Belmont School have launched a campaign for a new crossing in Locket Road after a ten-year-old girl was hit by a car last month.
A spokeswoman from Harrow Council said: "We understand the concerns raised and will look carefully at the petition when we receive it.
“The safety of children is a priority for the council and we have recently introduced preventative measures to reduce vehicle speeds and accidents by implementing a 20mph zone around schools across the borough.
“We work closely with our schools to highlight the importance of road safety. Last week a week long road safety awareness campaign took place at Belmont School to explain the dangers of crossing the road and how to cross safely.
“We will continue to promote road safety through the various safety awareness initiatives we run at our schools.
“We will review putting in a zebra crossing to compliment the school crossing service we currently operate.”
