The decision to bring back the role of chief executive at Harrow Borough Council will be reviewed this evening.
Last month the council cabinet agreed to reinstate the position, which was scrapped in November last year.
However the Conservative opposition group called for the decision to be examined by the call-in sub-committee this evening.
The meeting will look at how the cabinet came to the decision and can decide the challenge can go no further, or refer the decision back to the cabinet or full council for reconsideration.
The call-in sub-committee will meet this evening at 5.30pm at the council civic centre, in Station Road.
