Generations joined together to raise money in memory of a family member who was cared for at a hospice.

Members of the Cohen family spent a week pushing themselves to the limit to raise money for St Luke's Hospice in the memory of Alan Rustin, raising a total of £8,782.

Mr Rustin's daughter Melanie Cohen took part in a triathlon for the hospice in Kenton Grange with a friend and organised a netball tournament for her team, with the help of her daughter.

She said: "On July 18 my dad passed away, in his loving memory the big and small Cohens challenged themselves to the max to raise money for St Luke's Hospice.

"My dad had been living with end-stage heart failure for the last few years. He had repeatedly defied medics and cardiologists and whilst his prognosis was bleak, his positive attitude and will to live remained steadfast.

"St Luke's had been there throughout our roller-coaster journey to provide support, care and respite at every twist and turn.

"We set ourselves tough physical challenges and completed them in one crazy week in August because St Luke's had provided such loving care to my dad and much needed breaks to my mum over the years, that we felt it is time to give something back."
