A man has been jailed for six months for stealing a car and driving while disqualified.

Gordon Bees, 26, of Uphill Drive, was caught by officers in Roe Green, Kingsbury, after they noticed the car he was driving, which had recently been reported stolen, travelling at speed.

Police then tried to catch up with the vehicle and found it in Hyde Crescent with Bees walking away in the opposite direction.

After being questioned by officers he was arrested on suspicion of theft of the car.

It was later found he was a disqualified driver and clothing and a disqualified driver were found at his home address belong to the owner of the car.

He was then arrested for theft from the vehicle and disqualified driving.

Bees was charged and pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Hendon Magistrates Court last week to 24 weeks imprisonment.

Detective constable Nigel Doyle said: “This was an excellent piece of policing by the officers who spotted Bees.

“The car was recovered half an hour after being stolen. Bees is a prolific burglar and it should be a comfort to the residents of Wembley that he is safely behind bars for the foreseeable future.”
