A foundation that helps improve the lives of children in the developing world has raised £25,000 from its charity cricket day.

The Bal Gopal Foundation, based in Pinner Road, Harrow, hosted the fun day last week at the Cavendish Cricket Ground in Field End Road.

During the past few years the charity has successfully helped educate hundreds of underprivileged children in India.

Secretary for the charity Sharvary Trivedi said: “The day was a huge success and we are so so grateful to everyone for their generous donations.

“To reach our target of £25,000 is fantastic and it means we will be able to build a school in India to help children get an education.

“There was a great turn out and I think everyone had a wonderful time on the day. We were certainly lucky with the weather.”

The Indian High Commission also entered a team on the day and following the event committed their support to the charity future events.

Money was raised on the day from ticket sales and donations from some of the 400 people who enjoyed the day’s events.
