Cadet forces from the police, army and air training corps were put through their paces on the parade ground and the rifle range.

The annual Mayor of Harrow's drill competition tested the young cadets from different forces in their drill, presentation and .22 rifle shooting.

This year Harrow Volunteer Police Cadets took home the shield and first place for overall presentation and turnout.

Cadets were inspected by the Mayor of Harrow Nana Asante as well as borough commander Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens.

Youth engagement coordinator Simon Underwood said: "It was a fantastic evening seeing all the cadets together in one place.

“It is really important that the work of all of our volunteers is recognised because without them and their support we would be unable to facilitate the achievements of our young people.

“I am immensely proud of the Harrow Volunteer police cadets and not just for taking the shield in this instance but for all the time and effort they put into everything we do in our units."
