People are being warned not to hand over cash donations to doorstop collectors for the Harrow Foodbank.

Harrow Borough Council is warning the public following reports of a bogus collectors going door-to-door.

Harrow Foodbank is not making door-to-door collections and any money should be donated via the proper channels.

People are being advised that if someone does come to their door asking for money for the foodbank they should not give them anything and inform the police.

Carolyn Rogers, volunteer from the foodbank said: “Unfortunately we have had a couple of reports of people fraudulently saying they are collecting cash for the foodbank.

“I would remind everyone that we are not carrying out door-to-door collections and we are only collecting at our official points.”
