This month is the perfect opportunity to take a trip to your local theatre as am-dram season kicks off in earnest.

Terra Nova by Incognito Theatre

Terra Nova tells the story of Royal Navy officer and explorer Robert Falcon Scott’s fateful expedition to the South Pole, and his relationships with his team Wilson, Bowers, Oates and Evans, his wife Kathleen, and his rival Amundsen. Written by Ted Tally, Terra Nova is a theatrical tour de force as it captures the epic sweep of times and personalities when the last places on earth had yet to be conquered by man.

Terra Nova is the Friern Barnet theatre group’s entry for this year’s Barnet & District Drama Festival.

Terra Nova is on at Incognito Theatre, Holly Park Road, Friern Barnet from Sunday, May 13 to Saturday, May 18, at 8pm from Monday to Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. Details: 0791 287 5700, www.incognitotheatre.com

Life x 3 by Garden Suburb Theatre

Henri and Sonia are putting their son to bed when an unexpected knock at the door throws them into disarray. Hubert and Ines have arrived for dinner, a day earlier than expected... All that's on offer, besides a copious quantity of Sancerre, are a few chocolate fingers and cheesy Wotsits and plenty of recrimination and resentment.

As the evening degenerates, Life x 3 blends cruel observations with high comedy in a hilarious and poignant examination of our most personal intimacies and private longings.

Life x 3 will be the Garden Suburb Theatre's entry into the 2012 Barnet & District Drama Festival.

Life x 3 is at The Bull Theatre, High Street, Barnet from Thursday, May 10 to Saturday, May 12 at 8pm, with a Saturday matinee at 3pm. Details: 020 7723 6609, www.gardensuburbtheatre.org.uk
