The jury has been discharged in the case of a refuse company on trial over the death of a binman who was dragged under a lorry.

Peter Coleman, 54, was working alone at Woodside Leisure Park off the A405 in Garston, when he tried to stop the Volvo bin lorry rolling down an embankment on 11 October 2014. (Correct)

The father-of-two, from Dunstable, was fatally injured after becoming trapped under the rear axle.

Mr Coleman’s employers, the waste collection company F and R Cawley Limited of Covent Garden Close, Luton, pleaded not guilty to four charges of failing to discharge a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Judge Mark Bishop discharged the jury of six men and six women for legal reasons. A new date for the trial has yet to be fixed.
