Wigan Athletic fans, players and officials – as well as followers of the game in general – reacted with glee and amazement on social media after the Latics dumped Manchester City out of the FA Cup.
The club’s official Twitter page lit up, with special praise heaped on Will Grigg for lifting the League One club 1-0 over the Premier League giants.
The club’s chairman David Sharpe, who at 26 is the youngest in football, added his thoughts and a photo with manager Paul Cook.
Many of Wigan’s players shared their elation online too.
And a player past.
A fan page got in there too with a poetic dig at City.
And Northern Ireland’s football team paid tribute to their striker.
Big names of the game gave their opinion on the upset.
Some famous faces and prominent figures were thrilled by the game.
And fans of followers of the game at large gave their view.
Meanwhile City were in a reflective mood.
There was also criticism of the ugly scenes that followed the final whistle, when some fans invaded the pitch and Sergio Aguero was involved in an altercation.
