Harrow Borough’s poor form continued as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Metropolitan Police in the Southern League Premier Division South on Tuesday night.

Borough have now collected just four points from the last available 24, and despite Kunle Otudeko giving them an early lead, they were beaten by strikes from Ayab Assal and Jack Mazzone.

Although Hafed Al-Droubi was tested early on by the Met’s Oliver Knight, Borough began well overall and took the lead when Otudeko side-stepped a defender and slotted into the bottom corner.

They failed to build on that early positivity though, and Assal dragged Police level when he capped a wonderful solo run with a fine finish past Al-Droubi.

The game was evenly-poised on the hour, but the key moment came when Shaun Preddie pulled back Mazzone in the area after a defensive mix-up, and he got up to smash home the penalty.

Despite tactical changes and more attacking intent late on, Borough were unable to get back into the game and slipped to their fifth straight game without a win.

Steve Baker's side turn their attention to the FA Trophy this weekend when they visit AFC Sudbury in the first qualifying round.
