RAM-RAIDERS who smashed their way into a jewellers were gone within three minutes, says the owner.

CCTV footage shows four men in balaclavas driving a Ford Fiesta repeatedly through the metal grill at the front of Shyam Jewellers, in Ealing Road, Wembley, at around 4am, last Tuesday.

The burglars then smashed the glass doors and once inside, shattered the glass display counters before stealing large amounts of Asian jewellery.

Raj Unadkat, an owner of the shop, said: “They were here on the premises for three minutes. The police came roughly five minutes after they set off the alarm.

“By then they were in the getaway car and they left. This will do a lot of damage to our business. My staff are laid off full time until I'm ready to go back to normal, but it will be at least two weeks.

“They took quite a bit, but we don't know how much. I was shocked and very upset. Everything has just stopped.”

Police said the raiders drove away in a dark-coloured saloon car along Ealing Road, before turning right into Bowrons Avenue, leaving the Fiesta at the scene.

This is the first time the shop has been robbed since it opened in 1970.

Detective Constable Dax Hollick, from Brent Police, said: “Police are particularly interested in the dark-coloured saloon. If anyone saw the registration or make of the vehicle, please come forward.”
