HARROW police have warned the public about a rise in burglaries in the borough.

As the hot weather continues, burglars getting into homes through insecure windows and doors.

Sergeant Jon Myers of the police's safer neighbourhoods team in Roxeth, said: "With the recent warm weather, people have been leaving their windows and doors open for ventilation.

"Unfortunately if these left open and unattended it presents burglars with an easy opportunity.

"It is essential that you remember to close and lock all doors and downstairs windows, especially those adjacent to flat roofs and large downpipes.

"Small windows often give access to larger widows, so no matter how small they are please make sure you lock them "Remember, an open door or window is an open invitation to a burglar."
