A SENIOR councillor in Harrow has been appointed to the board governing the London Fire Brigade.

Councillor Susan Hall, leader of the opposition Tory group on Harrow Council, will take up her seat at the first London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority meeting next Thursday since the General Election.

She joins 16 other members of the authority, which makes decisions affecting the capital's thousands of firefighters, and will come face-to-face with fellow Harrow councillor and old adversary Navin Shah, who is the vice chair.

Cllr Hall's appointment comes three months after Tory Bertha Joseph was forced to resign after a scandal involving the use of charity funds to buy a ball gown.
