TAMIL communities from across London got together in Harrow for a sports day on Sunday.
The British Tamil Sports Council (BTSC) held the qualifying round of its athletics tournament at the Bannister Sports Centre, in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End.
Athletes battled against each other in classic track and field events from shot put and javelin to the 100m sprint.
Brent Councilllor James Allie (Lib Dems/Alperton) was at the competition and said: “It’s really important for young people in the Tamil community to enjoy a chance to engage in mainstream sports.
“This is a really positive event for the Tamil community and for Brent and London’s wider communities too.”
The finals will be on July 4 at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, in Edmonton.
