A MAN with learning difficulties is fast becoming an accomplished sportsman thanks to the support of a residential home in Rayners Lane.

Divyesh Jani, 40, is a resident of the High Worple care home run by the ASRA Greater London Housing Association.

Staff at the home helped him to establish a "person centred care plan" and develop his own goals, agreeing the levels of staff guidance and support required to reach set milestones.

Nine months into the programme, Divyesh is excelling in sport.

He has won a snooker championship for people with learning disabilities and has played for Harrow and Wealdstone FC.

He has also won tickets to see England play at the new National Stadium in Wembley, when it opens.

Divyesh said: "My Dad used to be a sportsman, and I like sports too."

Dina Devshi, ASRA's project manager, said: "It's great to see Divyesh so happy and looking forward to the future.

"We plan the support around and individual's wishes, aspirations and goals.

"This has opened up new opportunities for all our residents, enabling them to enjoy a much improved quality of life."
