Refugees may be sent to a seaside resort to relieve Brent Council's accommodation crisis.
The council has signed a 45-bed deal to place asylum seekers from the war-torn Balkans at a former student hostel in Hastings.
Brent has been inundated with refugees and forced to house them in a sports and community centre. Social services director Mike Boyle confirmed it planned to use the Hastings hostel if it was faced with a fresh surge of new arrivals.
The council has stopped using the Bridge Park Centre off the North Circular Road for new arrivals and expects to rehouse the current occupants by the middle of next week.
