HARROW cemented their position in the middle of the Ryman Premier with an excellent win in east London on Saturday.

Borough welcomed back Wayne Walters and Clinton Lamb, both missing at Eastbourne last Saturday, giving the team better-balance.

For the second week running, they got off to a flying start, opening the scoring with a goal in the second minute. Lamb headed to Abdulai Yoki, who centered. Brian Haule won an initial header and then reacted quickest to the dropping ball, back-heading it over the line.

Leyton threatened with a quickly-taken free-kick, which sent Bajada through on goal, before he was stopped by Walters' fine tackle.

Borough twice went close to doubling their lead. Haule beat a defender, hitting a low shot that was turned round the post by Hasell. Then Yoki reached the by-line, pulling back for Haule to steer over from eight yards.

Harrow went two-up in the 25th minute. Perry Norman's shot from a Lamb corner was blocked and Haule reacted quickest, beating a challenge to turn the ball home.

The hosts almost pulled one back after 32 minutes after a scramble from a corner, but the half finished with Harrow on top. Yoki blazed across goal in the dying seconds.

After the break Harrow looked strong. Clemente Lopez sent Haule away, but he shinned his shot from the edge of the area.

A great Borough move culminated in Jesper Nielsen crossing for Yoki who had his shot blocked.

The introduction of substitute Hawes by Leyton after 56 minutes heralded a change in the game. He started to wrest midfield control from Lamb and Steve Dogbe, and Harrow found themselves on the defensive. Williams made a good run up the left wing and pulled back for Hawes to fire wide.

Keita Karamoko then made a fine finger-tip save to touch Bangura's shot round the post.

An exciting passage of play saw Haule shoot wide before the play switched rapidly to the other end, where Lopez made a great clearance under heavy Leyton pressure.

After 68 minutes, Leyton got the goal they had been threatening when Karamoko dropped a corner and Williams turned in the loose ball.

But Harrow regrouped and, while unable to replicate their first-half dominance, had the better of the remainder of the game.

Yoki shot over from an angle, and had a shot turned round the post by Hasell. Dean Marney headed the resulting corner wide. Williams blasted over for Leyton from 18 yards, but Borough's defence held firm.
