AN adventure playground will be officially opened at a Green Flag park in Edgware, this weekend.

The playground in Canons Park has been overhauled with thousands of pounds of investment, the final stage of a revamp of the park.

Canons Park, a large open space including the George V Memorial Gardens, is due to be officially given Green Flag status later this month after £85,000 in Lottery funding and £50,000 from Harrow Council being used to improve the area.

The playground will be unveiled on Sunday at 3pm by Mayor of Harrow Eric Silver, as part of the Friends of Canons Park Family Fun Day.

Friends of Canons Park was formed in 2003 to help bid for the lottery funding in conjunction with the council, and is now a driving force behind improvements to the park and surrounding areas of Edgware.
