A HARROW MP has hit back at claims he did not do enough to save a Harrow post office.
Plans to rescue the Harrow-on-the-Hill branch, through financial support from Harrow Council and Harrow School, collapsed last week after the company demanded increasingly steep costs.
Councillor Mark Versallion blamed Gareth Thomas (Lab/Harrow West) for not doing enough to save the post office when it closed last year.
Mr Thomas said: “This is an attempt to disguise the council's failure to achieve an agreement. I remember the council marching residents up the hill saying they were going to be the saviours of the post office.
“They have clearly failed on a promise to the people of Harrow-on-the-Hill.”
