THIS first person shooter is loosely based on the film of the same name staring Ben Affleck and Morgan Freeman.

The game was developed by the same people who brought you Tom Clancy's highly acclaimed Rainbow Six series, together with the 2001 game of the year, Ghost Recon.

In this game you lead a team of domestic counter-terrorism experts through 11 missions which begin with a batch of militia members seizing a TV station and could end with terrorists unleashing a nucleur strike on the world.

The game play is fairly good, which is probably to be expected when the developers have made a name for themselves with this type of game.

It puts you in charge of your team, so where you go they follow, waiting for your orders and guarding your back.

The game provides you with a mini-map of the area and a heartbeat sensor that shows where the bad guys are, so all you need to do is follow the white line and shoot quicker than the bad guys.

If you are killed in the heat of battle then you just assume the body of one of the other team members and you're off again.

The instructions suggest that you can explore the rest of the area if you wish, but there seems little point wandering around when the white line tells you exactly where to go to complete the mission as quickly as possible.

The graphics are a bit of a disappointment and certainly no match for the standard available in rival games at present.

It's almost as if the developers didn't find out until late that a game was required and therefore decided to bolt together bits from some of the older games to save time.

The same is true of the sound, which is restricted to gunshots and footsteps, so nothing to build atmosphere.

The missions are all fairly intensive though, with confined spaces and bad guys hiding around every corner so there is a certain amount of tension.

However, the biggest problem with this game is that it's too short.

I was able to complete all 11 missions in about two hours, although this was on the easy level.

On this setting the bad guys have about as much bite as my grandma without her false teeth in and the mission objectives seem all too easy to complete.

If you really must buy this game then set the skill level to hard so you get your money's worth. If you. can wait I would suggest you put your hard-earned notes away and. wait for the release of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield soon, which looks the. business.

Overall: 3.5/5
