Three young men have died after a car crash in Brent Cross – here is everything we know so far.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash at Staples Corner Retail Park just before 11.30pm yesterday evening (April 14).

Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade all responded to the crash.

Five men, all believed to be aged in their early 20s, were found at the scene. Three were pronounced dead, and the other two taken to hospital.

One remains in a critical condition, while the other has injuries that are not life-threatening.

The Evening Standard has spoken to a friend of the young men, who said that they were university friends, and that they had been returning from a 24-hour gym at Staples Corner when the crash took place.

Pictures of the crash scene taken earlier today showed a car buried deep in undergrowth by the side of the road.

Debris could be seen strewn nearby, as police investigators combed the scene.

London Fire Brigade confirmed it had sent two fire engines from Hendon and Wembley to the crash site, alongside a fire rescue unit with specialist equipment for cutting.

Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne described the crash as a "tragic incident", and said firefighters had worked to make the scene safe.

London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene, as well as three ambulance crews from London Ambulance Service.

Metropolitan Police inspector William Mcdonald said: “Emergency services responded last night to what seems to have been a terrible accident.

“An urgent police investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances, led by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

“Officers are in the process of informing the families of the five young people. The families will be supported by specialist officers. I send them my sincere condolences.”
