A man walking on a pavement was just a whisker away from being hit by a car which spiralled out of control and knocked over a lamp post.

Footage shows the moment the man was nearly hit by a car as it left the road in Mollison Way, between Edgware and Queensbury, on Saturday (February 24).

It appears the man was on the phone as he crossed the road and then began to walk on the pavement next to a house.

Suddenly a car is seen losing control on the road as it veers onto the pavement and crashes into a lamp post.

After the impact, a large crowd gathers around the damaged car and lamp post.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 5pm due to damage reported.

According to the force, there were no injuries.

People living on the road have long complained about incidents of speeding and regular car crashes.

In one incident on March 20, 2022, a woman named Mary Jane Watson, 82, died after 30-year-old Ilie Carneala smashed into her car at 63mph in his Porsche.

Another incident in March last year saw a woman miraculously cheat death after a driver ploughed into her as she was working under the bonnet of her car.

The woman was thrown five metres along the pavement, while the other car went straight through a fence - hitting another parked vehicle in the process.

Harrow Council launched a seven-week public consultation which finished in September last year to get feedback from residents on how it could make the road safer for driver and pedestrians.

The council and Transport for London (TfL) have suggested reducing the overall speed limit in the area to 20mph, as well as further measures to slow down traffic.
