A brutal murderer savagely beat a sleeping man and poured boiling water on his feet while his accomplice filmed it on his phone.

Jakub Molga, 26, and Andrej Kolecki, 61, went into Rafal Zabiecki's home in Pinner, Harrow, on February 20 last year and launched an attack on the sleeping 48-year-old that left him with devastating injuries.

He died at the scene and the pair were found guilty of his murder at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday (January 22).

The jury heard how Molga, of Romford Road, Stratford, beat Mr Zabiecki with a wooden table leg, hitting him so hard it broke.

Molga rearmed himself with heavier piece of wood and continued his attack, before pouring boiling water over Rafal’s feet.

He was filmed by his friend, Kolecki, of Chaplin Road, Cricklewood, who recorded the onslaught on his phone, Scotland Yard said.

The Metropolitan Police immediately launched an investigation and pieced together CCTV and phone evidence, along with finding fingerprints in the Howards Close house.

After Molga's arrest on February 24 officers recovered the video that Kolecki had filmed, despite it having been deleted.

They gathered enough evidence to charge Molga, also known as Leon Pedrycz, with murder on February 27.

Kolecki was arrested on February 26 and also charged with murder the following day.

Molga tried to plead manslaughter, saying he had not intended to kill Mr Zabiecki or cause him serious harm.

However the jury found him guilty of murder along with Kolecki.

Both men had previously pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm (ABH) on another person present.

Mr Zabiecki's sister, Magdalena, said: “I am so happy that the jury have made the right decision. Although it can never bring Rafal back I feel that we have got justice for him and the rest of the family.

"I would like to thank the police investigation team for everything they have done and the support they have provided to us.”

Det Insp Lucy Carberry, who led the team, said: “Molga’s claims that he didn’t intend to cause him serious harm are staggering – it was clear that Molga and Kolecki went there with a plan.

"From the start we knew we had to prove that this was a case of murder and that they had intended to seriously harm him.

“The team spent hours building the case against Molga and Kolecki, so that they could be properly held to account for their heartless crimes that day, and give Mr Zabieki’s family a small degree of comfort knowing that they were brought to justice.”

The pair will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on February 2.
