Paddington train services suspended after person hit by a train

Emergency services were called to the scene after a person was hit by a train today (December 28) between London Paddington and Reading.

Emergency services are at the scene.

Network Rail has advised that disruption is expected until 11am today.

Elizabeth Line services between Maidenhead, Reading and Abbey Wood are affected, along with a number of Great Western Railway Services.

⚠ Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between #LondonPaddington and #Reading all lines are blocked.

A statement on the GWR website read: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been struck by a train.

"Some lines have now reopened to allow the movement of trains once again but it will take a while to reintroduce a full service.

"Until that is in place, where we can, we will divert trains to run on other lines around the affected area. 

“If you are onboard one of the services in this incident and are distressed by events, please do speak to a member of Train Crew for assistance.

“Alternatively, if you need to talk with someone privately the Samaritans offer a 24hr phone line available via 116 123.”

Customers for Elizabeth line services are advised to use local bus services between Reading and Hayes & Harlington, and South Western Railway services between Reading and London Waterloo.

GWR customers are advised to use Chiltern Railway services between Oxford and London Marylebone, SWR services between Reading and London Waterloo, or London Underground services via any reasonable route.
