A house where four "vulnerable" women were being exploited in illegal activities has been shut down.

Neighbours had made many complaints, including men “acting suspiciously” and visiting the property in Valentine Road, South Harrow at odd times.

When police visited, four females were found to be working illegally at a property.

Following an investigation, the council’s community safety team and the Metropolitan Police obtained a closure order to stop illegal activities there.

Cllr Anjana Patel, cabinet member for environment and community safety said: “Thanks to swift action taken by our community safety team and the police, I am pleased that we’ve got this property shut down.

“This wasn’t just about the illegal activities and antisocial behaviour taking place, but also about the safety of vulnerable women who are being assisted by the police.

“We will continue to work closely with our local police teams to put residents first and help make Harrow a safe place to live and work.

“I encourage residents to report antisocial behaviour to both the council and the police so we can take action.”
