A cafe has closed its doors forever after being “hammered” with rising costs.

Red Cup Café, in Station Road, near North Harrow station, made the announcement through their social media pages of their “devastating and emotional decision”.

Couple Henal and Reena launched the business in September 2015 to serve “fresh and healthy food” in the area.

But after seven years, Red Cup Café says it cannot afford to keep up with rising costs.

A statement on their Instagram page reads: “We have been hammered with a rental increase on a new lease extension, which is completely unaffordable for us in the current climate.

“A new energy contract early next year (on just electricity) would also add another £15,000 per year on our costs.”

The owners said a combination of the pandemic, the current cost of living crisis, a “lack of support” from the government and overheads have “forced” the closure.

The statement continues: “We would like to give a massive thank you from the bottom of our grateful hearts, not just for your custom and support but letting us share so many of fabulous and unfortunately difficult moment with you.”
