Schools in Harrow celebrated “record breaking results” as students received their GCSE results.
Whitmore High School said that 37% of entries were awarded a grade 7 or higher this year.
Some of their achievers include Dhruv, who received 11 grade 9s, and received the highest score for exam board OCR’s GCSE chemistry this year.
He said: “I’m over the moon – I would really recommend Whitmore as it brings out the best in you.”
Other hard workers include Samanta – who had seven grade 9s and three 8s – and Heli who had seven 9s and three 8s.
Head of year Emily Steer said: “The resilience and commitment that they have shown over the past five years has been amazing and this is evident in these amazing results!
“We look forward to welcoming a large number back to our Sixth Form.”
Avi, a John Lyon student and county cricketer who is the second highest 1st XI run scorer in 2022, will be achieving a John Lyon Scholarship Award after receiving his results - straight nine 9s.
The boy said: “I am extremely happy as I have worked so hard. It’s a great feeling when the effort you have put in has paid off. My teachers and parents have really helped me. Throughout the winter, my coaches supported me with my preparations and enabled me to perform at my best over the summer cricket season.”
Headteacher Katherine Haynes said: “Congratulations to our Year 11s on their fantastic GCSE results! They have worked tremendously hard and have rightly been rewarded for their efforts with superb grades.
“My warmest thanks must go to our parents, who have tirelessly supported their children, and also to our dedicated staff, for their expert, passionate teaching and guidance for every pupil during their GCSE years.”
St Helen's School in Northwood said that 42% of all grades awarded were grade 9s and over 70% were grades 9-8, with just under 90% being grades 9-7.
In contrast to national trends for girls, this year also saw a record number of entries for computer science and further maths with the majority of candidates achieving grade 9.
