The RAF Museum London has celebrated becoming an accredited Dementia Friendly Venue.
In 2021 the Mayor of London in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, launched the world’s first Dementia Friendly Venues Charter for cultural public venues with a bid to focus on five key areas – knowledge; inclusivity; accessibility; communication and sustainability.

In order to secure the accreditation, the museum put on sessions for staff and volunteers to become Dementia Friends.
The museum also added further information to its website to help people with dementia feel confident in planning a visit.
Toni Donston, access and learning officer, and Rhiannon Watkinson community engagement manager, said in a statement: “We’re really excited about becoming accredited, but this isn’t the end of the story. We’re continuing to assess and change how we work in order to make us even more dementia friendly.”
