Motorists are facing disruption in and around Harrow due to the temporary closure of many streets for roadworks, some for several weeks.

Notices from Harrow Council in this week’s edition of the Harrow Times detail the extent of the closures for utility works or the installation of paved (Copenhagen) crossings as part of high street improvement works.

Utility works lasting more than two months will prohibit vehicles from travelling in a northbound direction on Headstone Lane between its junctions with George V Avenue and Elmcroft Crescent.

This closure is due to take effect on February 14 and it is anticipated the works will be completed by April 25.

In addition, vehicles will be prevented from entering or exiting these roads when signs are in place: Manor Way – at its junction with Headstone Lane; Priory Way – at Headstone Lane; Hillview Gardens – at Headstone Lane; Elmcroft Gardens – at Headstone Lane; Holmdene Avenue – access only; Manor Park Drive – access only; Melbourne Avenue – at Headstone Lane; Parkfield Gardens – access only; Pinner Park Avenue – at Headstone Lane; Almond Way – at Headstone Lane; Parkfield Avenue – at Headstone Lane; Fernleigh Court – at Headstone Lane.

The installation of Copenhagen crossings are set to prevent motorists travelling along these sections of road when signs are in place:

  • In a southbound direction on Buckingham Road between its junction with Whitchurch Lane and its western junction with Whitchurch Lane.
  • In a northbound direction on Buckingham Road between its eastern junction with Whitchurch Lane and its western junction with Whitchurch Lane.
  • Entering or exiting Eastcote Road, South Harrow, between its junction with Northolt Road Hill and a point opposite the eastern boundary of No. 10 Eastcote Road.

These orders are set to take effect on February 14 and the work should be completed by April 1.

The following roads are also due to be closed for utility works:

  • Methuen Road in a southbound direction between its junctions with Chandos Crescent and Camrose Avenue; in a northbound direction between its junctions with Camrose Avenue and Chandos Crescent – from February 1 to March 22.
  • Lancaster Road between its junction with Suffolk Road and the eastern boundary of No. 34 Suffolk Road – from February 11 to 13.
  • Dennis Lane between its junctions with Laburnum Court and Eaton Close – from February 14 to 16.
  • Hillview Road between its junction with Colborn Avenue and the eastern boundary of No. 83 Hillview Road – from February 14 to 18.
