The Mayor of London awarded Northwick Park Hospital nurses on behalf of all NHS workers for their work over the pandemic.

During the annual Glamour Magazine women of the year awards, three workers at Northwick Park were chosen to pick up the national ‘Gamechanger’ award on behalf of their colleagues across the healthcare system.

This includes critical care matron Carol Galvin, high dependency nurse Geobina George, and A&E matron Laura Norman.

Introducing the winners during the virtual event, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to all the frontline NHS workers who continue to pull out all the stops to save lives and keep us safe from the doctors and nurses to the cooks, cleaners, porters and care staff your actions over the last year have been truly heroic.”

He added that he was “blown away” by the courage and compassion shown by many NHS workers as they battled and dealt with hardships of Covid-19.

“You are the best of us,” he concluded.
