A mass illegal religious gathering that flouted current coronavirus restrictions was broken up by police.

Officers were called to a house at Paulhan Road, Kenton, on October 25 at 10.30pm to reports of a large gathering.

While at the scene police found a mass group with over 80 people inside the home.

Metropolitan Police say officers shut down the party, dispersed the attendees at the scene and the owner was reported for consideration of a £10,000 fine.

During the time of the party London fell into a Tier 2 coronavirus restriction, meaning that people cannot meet socially indoors with friends or family outside of the same household or support bubble.

The Met have been taking robust action against unlicensed music events and illegal gatherings since the start of the new coronavirus restrictions.

Commander Ade Adelekan, from the Met’s Central Public Order Command Team, previously said: “Not only are unlicensed music events unsafe for many reasons but they brazenly disregard the current Covid-19 restrictions. As well as music events there were numerous gatherings which flout the rule of six.

“The majority of the public have had to make sacrifices during this time, we will not let those who think they are above the law get away with this selfish behaviour.

“We take the reports of Covid-19 restrictions seriously and will listen to the concerns of local residents.”

He continued: “We are still in a pandemic and it is extremely selfish of the small minority of people to carry on without regard for the regulations.

“The restrictions are in place for an important reason, to keep everyone safe."
