The best tribute the voters of Canons Ward can pay to the late Mayor and councillor Janet Cowan is to humiliate the BNP candidate by totally rejecting him in the by-election on December 13.
On a similar note we would appeal all political parties to unite and campaign in the spirit of solidarity against the BNP. We must give a strong and clear message that in our multicultural borough any individual or a so-called "party" promoting fascism and division between communities is not welcome.
Harrow's record of a vibrant, peaceful borough respecting the great values and contribution of diverse communities is second to none. Let us all work together to keep Harrow free from the racist and anti-Semitic thugs.
Cllr Navin Shah,
leader of the Labour group - Harrow Council
Richard Harrod,
Labour Party candidate for the Canons Ward by-election
