Plans have been submitted to turn a former pub into a GP surgery.
The proposal is to turn the former Cat & Fiddle pub, in Cobden Hill, Radlett, into a new GP surgery and cardiac centre.
The Grade II listed building is currently empty and agent Indigo Planning argues on behalf of its client, The Hive, that the proposed change of use will accommodate a new occupier for the "benefit of the local community".
The planning statement adds that the medical facility would provide "state-of-the-art" screening and imaging equipment, as well as GP services for the community.
There are no plans to change the outside of the building but the applicants want to remove an existing partitioning wall to create a bigger space, as well as add some new partitioning walls to create additional rooms.
With one GP surgery in Radlett at the moment, the applicant says this proposal would "reduce the pressure" on the existing GP surgery.
There is no mention in the statement about whether the surgery would be private or run by the NHS.
The building has been used as a pub since 1878 before it shut last year.
The application was submitted earlier this month.
