A WEMBLEY father was shot dead outside his home by a masked gunman in front of his two children, the Old Bailey heard.

As screaming youths scattered for cover, Jason Greene, 30, was gunned down as he sat in his car. His eight-year-old son was sat beside him and his four-year-old boy was in the back seat.

The family were on their way to school when the gunman struck in a busy street at 8.20am on July 18 last year, the court heard.

The attacker then sped off in a car as passers-by, many of them children, looked on.

Jurors heard a gang of armed men in two cars lay in wait for Mr Greene outside his home in Bowater Road, Wembley.

When another gang member walked past and gave the signal, the gunman got out and opened fire.

A mother-of-five told the court how she witnessed the murder and hid behind bins with her children to escape the gunfire.

Christopher Toussant-Collins, 19, is accused at the Old Bailey of being one of the shooting party.

It is claimed the victim was gunned down as part of a tit-for-tat gang war.

Jurors heard how in February 2005 Jason Greene's brother, Gavin Greene, was shot in Harrow. It was rumoured that 24-year-old Shaun Stanislas was responsible for the attack.

The following month Shaun Stanislas himself was murdered on the Stonebridge Estate.

Both Gavin and Jason Greene were suspected of involvement but were released without charge by police due to insufficient evidence.

Toussant-Collins, of Derwent Rise, West Hendon, denies murder.

The trial continues.
