Hundreds of toys have been donated to a campaign which seeks to provide children who are looked after with Christmas presents this year.
An annual scheme run by Harrow Council and Harrow Police encourages shoppers to give toys to those who might otherwise be without a gift to open over the festive period.
This year it collected 192 toys; enough to share with neighbouring boroughs. Those behind the campaign expressed their amazement at the wonderful generosity of Harrow residents and were quick to offer their thanks.
It follows on from the council staff’s ‘festive knits’ project. This saw them don their favourite Christmas jumpers and raise money on behalf of Save the Children.
Their efforts, and further generosity from donors, brought in more than £1,000 for the charity.
