THE deadline for comments on a council report on day care charges has been put back a week.

Harrow Council's Cabinet had been due to consider the issues, contained in the Fair Access to Care Services report this week. Now a special cabinet meeting will consider the issues next Wednesday so that as many people as possible can see the report and prepare questions.

The deadline for questions from both the public and councillors is now at 5pm on Friday, July 20.

The report follows an extended period of consultation on proposals for tightening the criteria for those eligible for social services and charging for day care services.

Deputy leader of the council, Cllr David Ashton, said: "We want to ensure that members of the public have time to consider these reports and we take very seriously any concerns people may have about their ability to ask questions within the time limit.

"We are aware that not everyone who may wish to ask a question has access to the internet, and therefore we are deferring cabinet consideration of these issues for one week."
