Parents can find out more about a proposed new community primary school.
The New School for Harrow will open in September 2016 with two reception classes and one Year 1 class.
Parents who are setting up the school are holding an information event at the Pinner Arms pub in Whittington Way, Pinner on Saturday April 25.
Ros Jenkins, one of the founding parents, said: “Harrow is facing an immediate shortage of primary places and many families won’t receive a place at the school of their choice.
“The New School for Harrow will open with a Year 1 class as well as two Reception classes. This means that even if families don’t get their first choice school this year, they’ll have the option of joining our school next year.
“We know from our own experience how important it is as a parent to feel that you do have a choice over which school your children will attend.”
The group is looking for premises in North Harrow, Pinner and Hatch End, as that is where children are not likely to be offered places at any of the schools closest to them.
However, for their first year, the group has asked the Department for Education if it can allocate places by random ballot – giving every family who’d like to attend an equal chance of receiving a place.
The event will start at 2pm, will start with a short presentation, before parents can meet founders to talk about the possibility.
