Birthdays are often celebrated with cake and candles, but one Stanmore optician will celebrate hers with a 26 mile run.
Keen runner Sunny Calitz-Patel, who works at Dave Opticians in Church Road, Stanmore, will take on her 100th marathon this weekend for charity.
The 47-year-old will put on her running shoes on Saturday as she takes part in the 26-mile run with a visually impaired woman to raise money for the Royal National Institute for Blind People.
Dave optician owner Nawal Dave said: “She is an incredible young person and this will be the 100th marathon she has done. As an optician, it’s a cause that is very close to her heart.
“It would be incredible for her to get some recognition for her cause.”
So far, a total of £390 has been raised for the charity, but she hopes to reach her target of £500.
