A shopping centre marked World Diabetes Day with a raffle and free health tests.
The Harrow-based charity Silver Star Diabetes held the event in St George’s Shopping Centre, in St Ann’s Road, Harrow, last Friday.
Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, drew the third prize ticket from the raffle, which was for a £1,000 sari from Sonas. The winner has been informed.
The charity marked the lead-up to the day with a mobile diabetes unit roadshow, which travelled across London for a week from November 7, visiting different communities.
Bob Blackman said:“Harrow has one of the highest diabetes rates in London so I really must applaud the work of Silver Star Diabetes in our area to help combat this very serious health issue and raise life expectancies locally.
"The charity is really making a tremendous difference and I have been delighted to support them at several of their events, including their recent Charity Fun Walk from Edgware to Canons Park, to help raise awareness of the need for people to take the test and take action.”
