Artist Joy Trpkovic specialises in creating hand-built porcelains and paintings using only her hands and the simplest tools to shape her work, giving them an ethereal translucency.
Her installations are inspired by minutiae in nature – seed heads, marine life, fossils or bones, allowing Joy to invent marine creatures that swirl in shoals. Experience her wonderful works at her highly anticipated exhibition Joy Trpkovic: Fierce and Fragile.
Among the exhibits are Joy’s tall thin vessels, which are a world first in using a porcelain sheet material originally developed for an industrial process.
In contrast her paintings are concerned with a personal and emotional response to the deep and ancient history of the wild places dear to her.
Joy Trpkovic: Fierce and Fragile, is at Harrow Arts Centre, Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, from Wednesday, July 2 until Sunday, July 27. Details: harrowarts.com, 020 8416 8989
