A father-of-two is celebrating today after finding out he won £100,000 and a new car in a lottery.
Ranjit Virdi, 41, of Kings Road, Rayners Lane, had been enjoying his day off when he answered the door to find he had won the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Mr Virdi, who has been playing the lottery since April last year, met presenter Scott Quinnell at his door with a cheque £100,000 and his dream car, a BMW 1 series.
He said: “When I saw all the zeros on the cheque I wanted to run down the street shouting. I’m still a bit shell-shocked.
“I think it would be too easy to get caught up in the spending.
“Before I do anything, I want to clear off some of my debts and provide a great future for my twin three-year-old girls Ria and Aleena.
“Living in London is expensive so it’s great to have some security. My mother in law had lent us some money for the deposit on our house so it’s good to be able to pay her back too.”
The People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery and supports good causes across the country including the Woodcock Park Bowling Club in Harrow.
