A former councillor who was in charge of Harrow’s children has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Brian Gate, former cabinet member for children, schools and families, was arrested at his Harrow home on September 24, 2012, on suspicion of possession of possessing indecent images of children.
The 58-year-old former West Harrow representative was bailed pending further enquiries.
On Monday he was cautioned for the offence and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for two years.
Mr Gate, who is married to Councillor Ann Gate, resigned from the council and from his post as a governor at St Dominic's College following his arrest.
He had been in his post as portfolio holder for children since May 2012 and had been responsible for schools and families since Labour took control of the council in 2010.
