A Stanmore synagogue is gearing up for this year’s Mitzvah Day.

The Belmont United Synagogue, in Vernon Drive, will be performing a range of charitable deeds to mark the annual good deeds day on November 18.

The synagogue’s children will visit Princess Alexandra Care Home in Stanmore present residents with plant pots they have decorated.

Members of the synagogue will also entertain residents of the care home with a sing-along.

Other activities will include making cards for soldiers in Israel and collecting toys to give to Camp Simcha, a charity which supports seriously ill children.

Mitzvah Day is an annual national event involving Jewish communities across the country, when children and older members do something beneficial for society.
