A record 23 scholarships have been won by pupils in their final year at Beechwood Park School. The array of scholarships for academic, music, sports and art achievements have been awarded by a wide number of senior schools.

They include Abbot’s Hill, Bedford, Berkhamsted, Haberdashers’ Aske’s, Haileybury, Oundle, St Albans and St Albans High School for Girls.

Headmaster Mr Patrick Atkinson comments: “We are delighted that our pupils’ hard work has been rewarded with very successful entrance examination results as well as an impressive total of scholarships to a diverse number of schools. Both the children and their teachers deserve warmest congratulations on these magnificent results.

“This good news may also be of interest to parents of talented children about to leave primary school or preparatory schools at the end of Year 6. Beechwood Park offers scholarships and bursaries for gifted children entering the school aged 11 (Year 7). Depending on circumstances, these bursaries may cover up to 100 per cent of fees.”

He continues: “Often, an extra couple of years as a ‘big fish’ benefiting from superb teaching in small classes can pay immeasurable dividends later on. It may also be an attractive option to smooth the transition between junior school and senior day or boarding school.”

Beechwood Park has excellent connections with a wide range of senior schools. This means that there is plenty of help and guidance available to introduce parents and pupils to senior schools, with the aim that bursarial support may continue at the next school when these pupils leave Beechwood Park aged 13 years.
