TWO brothers with health needs have been given a boost by Stockton Heath Lions and the Warrington Guardian.

Identical tots Ben and Joe Cunningham suffer from a chromosome syndrome called 7q deletion 31.1-32.2, a rare genetic disorder faced by only three other children in the world, which affects their development.

They also suffer from another condition which causes them to choke and struggle to breathe.

Now they have been helped with costs towards a special pram, which should be big enough for them until they are six.

The pram lets their parents Beverley and Andrew, a manager at Spar, help the boys when they become tired and unable to walk during outings.

The three-year-olds have suffered from health problems since they were born.

But their other brother, Sam, is in good health after being on a life support machine when he was a baby.

Their parents appeared in the Warrington Guardian during December in a feature about the triplets.

The Guardian appealed for readers to help the family, of Walton Road, Walton, with funding for a double pram from Twins UK Ltd. The pram and its raincover would have cost around £700 but Twins UK joined forces with the Guardian to lower the price, so Stockton Heath Lions could then help the Cunninghams.

Beverley, aged 44, said: “I was overwhelmed with the Lions’ help. I really appreciated it and didn’t ever expect such a generous offer.

“I am now looking forward to taking the boys to feed the ducks in Walton with the pram.”

She said the pram will help to keep Ben and Joe safe because they often become anxious if they see dogs or cats or hear loud noises.

Stockton Heath Lions said the Guardian report appealed to their members, who were looking to help people in the area with money raised locally.

The £650 which they spent on the pram was raised before Christmas when the Lions took Father Christmas around south Warrington on a sleigh and held charity stands at The Forge Shopping Centre and Morrisons.

Dorothy Carter, Lions president, said: “We are delighted to be of assistance to the Cunninghams. We hope that donating this pram will go some way toward helping the family provide everything else that the boys need.”

To show their appreciation, Ben and Joe made a thank you card.
