Whitton has a new town centre manager.

Sally Sutton has been appointed to promote Whitton as a place to live, work and shop, following the achievements of predecessor Sonia Francis.

Sally hopes to be available to talk to businesses and residents on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm, based at Charles Ivey Hyundai. She says her priorities will be street safety and facilities, liaising with police and other authorities and ensuring that Whitton thrives.

The post is funded by Richmond council and Whitton Business Association with support from the Rugby Football Union and Charles Ivey Hyundai.

Sally, who lives in Richmond, lists her strengths as "approachability, professionalism, attention to detail, self-motivation, PR expertise, flexibility, communication and budgeting".

Recently she worked for the charity REACT as well as running her own company. Back in the 1970s she was PA to Sir James Goldsmith. She said: "I look forward to getting to know everyone and working together for the future of Whitton."

Paul Wenham, chairman of the WBA, said: "Sally will bring a unique blend of skills to this important job. It is vital that businesses and residents come together to ensure that Whitton is the place to be in the borough."
